JPMorgan Chase still relies heavily on core rela-
tional database technologies for transaction
processing, but it uses hadoop-based products
for a growing number of tasks, said larry Fein-
smith, the company’s managing director of it,
during a keynote talk at the recent hadoop World conference in
New york. Five out of seven JPMorgan Chase business units use
hadoop in some way, he noted.
hadoop’s ability to store vast volumes of unstructured data has
allowed JPMorgan Chase to collect and store Web logs, transaction
data and social media data, Feinsmith said.
